Product Description
In a bloody clash of cultures, four people from different worlds find the line between right and wrong narrows to a point of survival. They must rely on each other or die. Sam Colter is a bounty hunter in search of himself. Nate Judah, a runaway slave, has more than his freedom at stake. Sarah Mills was abandoned in the desert with her sister after witnessing their father's brutal murder. Tanna, half-Indian/half-White, sees the violent storm ahead that will tear her world apart.
Tracking a runaway slave into Lower California, 1863, Sam is shot by Indians mistaking him for a government agent. He wakes two days later in an unfamiliar tent to an icy reception from the attractive but mysterious Sarah who has tended to him. When her man Nate comes home, Sam discovers that the slave he's been tracking has actually saved his life. Nate, however, believes Sam to be a bounty hunter and cannot trust him, despite Sam's proof that he was sent by Nate's family. Nevertheless, a week later, Nate disappears - leaving Sarah alone and isolated with a man she barely knows or trusts. Over time, Sam's passion melts her frozen heart.
Sarah's sister Alice lives with Tanna, a "half-breed girl" existing at the boundary of her tribe's camp, as well as their acceptance. Sarah begs Alice to leave with her to the nearest white settlement as the Indians are being forced onto reservations rife with starvation and small pox. Alice refuses to abandon her adopted people.
When Nate unexpectedly returns, the two men come to blows. Meanwhile, Tanna steals a horse to save a desperately ill Alice, and a posse hunts her down. Nate and Sam form an uneasy alliance to help Tanna, setting in motion events that will change all four lives forever.
